Early detection is key to successful treatment and improving survival rates. This project aims to develop a highly sensitive tool to detect cancer biomarkers at extremely low levels, even at the single-molecule level. Detecting these biomarkers early can significantly enhance the chances of successful treatment.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"265\" data-end=\"552\">This project explores how <strong data-start=\"291\" data-end=\"325\">exceptional-point (EP) physics<\/strong> can be harnessed in <strong data-start=\"346\" data-end=\"401\">whispering gallery mode (WGM) optical microcavities<\/strong> to dramatically enhance biosensing sensitivity, enabling <strong data-start=\"459\" data-end=\"510\">label-free, real-time single-molecule detection<\/strong> of clinically relevant cancer biomarkers.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"554\" data-end=\"957\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">The work is carried out in collaboration with <a href=\"https:\/\/ceoeng.nankai.edu.cn\/Faculty\/Institute_of_Modern_Optics\/Hao_Zhang.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prof. <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Hao Zhang<\/span><\/span><\/a> at <a href=\"https:\/\/en.nankai.edu.cn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Nankai University<\/span><\/span><\/a>, bringing together complementary expertise in photonic microcavity engineering, precision optical interrogation, and biomedical sensing.
