Dr Stella Koutsikou <\/a>spent some of the summer break on a collaborative project with\u00a0Dr Jasenka Zubcevic<\/a>,\u00a0in the Department of Physiological Sciences\u00a0at\u00a0\u00a0University of Florida.<\/p>\n

\"\"The aim of Dr Koutsikou’s<\/a> visit was to complete experimental work, analyse data,\u00a0discuss findings and draft her first collaborative original research paper, on the way by which bone marrow inflammation contributes to the development of hypertension. Unexpectedly, this research visit provided Dr Koutsikou<\/a> with the right opportunity to discuss some other interesting observations and carry out pilot experiments. ‘Those implicated the CNS into the pathway fro\"\"<\/a>m bone marrow inflammation to hypertension’.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

In addition to working with Dr Jasenka\u00a0Zubcevic<\/a>,\u00a0\u00a0Dr Koutsikou<\/a> spent time with other research group leaders where they discussed and brainstormed other scientific developments in the department.<\/p>\n

Dr Koutsikou’s<\/a>\u00a0collaboration with Dr Jasenka\u00a0Zubcevic<\/a>, has\u00a0been funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Physiological Society and the Medway School of Pharmacy s<\/a>taff research & the development funding scheme.<\/p>\n
