An examination of two different mathematical techniques used in the modelling of epidemics (Romi Reis)

16:00, December 13, Kennedy Seminar Room 2

Abstract:  We will look at some of the classical models that have been used in mathematical epidemiology such as the “SIR” model and different adaptations of this model. We will also discuss networks and how they can be used as a model to describe the evolution of epidemics. In both of these areas we will also look at how we can incorporate the effects of vaccination and other control methods which may have an impact on the progression of the epidemic.
