{"id":897,"date":"2019-11-28T11:16:07","date_gmt":"2019-11-28T11:16:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/paris-news\/?p=897"},"modified":"2021-04-30T13:24:13","modified_gmt":"2021-04-30T13:24:13","slug":"ma-in-history-and-philosophy-of-art-student-exhibits-in-brussels","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/paris-news\/2019\/11\/28\/ma-in-history-and-philosophy-of-art-student-exhibits-in-brussels\/","title":{"rendered":"MA in History and Philosophy of Art student exhibits in Brussels"},"content":{"rendered":"<header>\n<div class=\"content-container\">\n<div class=\"content-main\">\n<p class=\"lead\">Artistic works by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.janiseyntema.com\/\">Janise Yntema<\/a>, who is studying the History and Philosophy of Art MA at the University\u2019s Paris School of Arts and Culture, are being exhibited at the Green Door Gallery in Brussels.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/header>\n<section class=\"content-body\">\n<div class=\"content-container\">\n<div class=\"content-main\">\n<p>Janise Yntema is already regarded as\u00a0<strong>one of the foremost contemporary artists working in the ancient technique of beeswax\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Encaustic_painting\">encaustic<\/a><\/strong>, and by using original photography within her work has\u00a0<strong>brought a contemporary platform to this historic medium.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.greendoorbrussels.com\/\">The exhibition at the Green Door Gallery in Brussels<\/a> is entitled &#8220;PRAETER terram&#8221;. The works on display interrogate us on where we locate ourselves in a changing environment where sustainability is our only hope. Yntema&#8217;s use of beeswax<strong>\u00a0ensures environmental concerns remain inherent within the works she produces<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_20975\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-20975\" src=\"https:\/\/static.kent.ac.uk\/media\/news\/2019\/01\/The-Farmed-Land-grey-concrete-by-Janise-Yntema-235x300.jpg\" alt=\"The Farmed Land grey concrete by Janise Yntema\" width=\"235\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>The Farmed Land<\/em>\u00a0by Janise Yntema<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The exhibition runs from 28 November 2019 to 12 January 2020 at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greendoorbrussels.com\/\">Green Door Gallery<\/a> in Brussels, Belgium. The gallery is open from 2-6 p.m. Friday &#8211; Sunday and also by appointment at other times.<\/p>\n<p>Janise is originally from New York and\u00a0<strong>received her formal art training<\/strong>\u00a0at Parson\u2019s School of Design.
