{"id":872,"date":"2019-07-04T10:32:44","date_gmt":"2019-07-04T10:32:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/paris-news\/?p=872"},"modified":"2021-04-30T13:20:59","modified_gmt":"2021-04-30T13:20:59","slug":"kent-paris-research-institute-hosts-first-international-research-symposium","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/paris-news\/2019\/07\/04\/kent-paris-research-institute-hosts-first-international-research-symposium\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent-Paris Research Institute hosts first International Research Symposium"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The event, titled \u2018From London 2012 to Paris 2024: Lessons learned from research into the social legacies of the Olympic and Paralympic games\u2019, took place on Wednesday 12 June in the newly created Kent-Paris Research Institute (KPRI) at Reid Hall, the University\u2019s postgraduate centre in Montparnasse.<\/p>\n<div class=\"content-main\">\n<p>Delegates from <strong>10 different countries<\/strong> took part.<\/p>\n<p>The Symposium brought together <strong>academics<\/strong>, <strong>sports policy makers<\/strong> and <strong>sport national governing bodies<\/strong> with the aim of inspiring <strong>new research projects and collaborations<\/strong>.\u00a0 Participants were able to exchange knowledge on the <strong>social legacies of the games<\/strong> and discuss the lessons <a href=\"https:\/\/www.paris2024.org\/en\/\">Paris 2024 <\/a>could learn from <strong>London 2012<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The event was co-hosted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/sport-sciences\/people\/2193\/pappous-sakis\">Dr Sakis Pappous<\/a>, from Kent\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/sport-sciences\">School of Sport and Exercise Sciences<\/a>, in collaboration with the <strong>French Olympic Academy<\/strong>, the <strong>French Centre for Olympic Studies<\/strong> and the U<strong>niversity of Montpellier<\/strong>.
