{"id":815,"date":"2019-01-29T10:26:14","date_gmt":"2019-01-29T10:26:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/paris-news\/?p=815"},"modified":"2021-04-30T13:22:56","modified_gmt":"2021-04-30T13:22:56","slug":"ma-in-history-and-philosophy-of-art-student-exhibits-in-london","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/paris-news\/2019\/01\/29\/ma-in-history-and-philosophy-of-art-student-exhibits-in-london\/","title":{"rendered":"MA in History and Philosophy of Art student exhibits in London"},"content":{"rendered":"<header>\n<div class=\"content-container\">\n<div class=\"content-main\">\n<p class=\"lead\">Artistic works by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.janiseyntema.com\/\">Janise Yntema<\/a>, who is studying the History and Philosophy of Art MA at the University&#8217;s Paris School of Arts and Culture, are being exhibited at the Cadogan Contemporary gallery in London.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/header>\n<section class=\"content-body\">\n<div class=\"content-container\">\n<div class=\"content-main\">\n<p>Janise Yntema is already regarded as <strong>one of the foremost contemporary artists working in the ancient technique of beeswax <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Encaustic_painting\">encaustic<\/a><\/strong>, and by using original photography within her work has <strong>brought a contemporary platform to this historic medium.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cadogancontemporary.com\/exhibition\/janise-yntema\/\">The exhibition<\/a>\u00a0at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cadogancontemporary.com\/\">Cadogan Contemporary<\/a> is entitled\u00a0\u2018<em>A Sense of Place: Landscape and Identity\u2019<\/em> and the works on display question<strong> the idea of landscape and truth<\/strong>, obscuring the boundary between photography and painting. Her use of beeswax<strong> ensures environmental concerns remain inherent within the works she produces<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_20975\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-20975\" src=\"https:\/\/static.kent.ac.uk\/media\/news\/2019\/01\/The-Farmed-Land-grey-concrete-by-Janise-Yntema-235x300.jpg\" alt=\"The Farmed Land grey concrete by Janise Yntema\" width=\"235\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>The Farmed Land<\/em> by Janise Yntema<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The exhibition runs from Monday 28 February until Friday 15 February at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cadogancontemporary.com\/\">Cadogan Contemporary<\/a>, 87 Old Brompton Road, London SW7 3LD.<\/p>\n<p>Janise is originally from New York and <strong>received her formal art training<\/strong> at Parson\u2019s School of Design.
