{"id":784,"date":"2018-07-13T15:31:10","date_gmt":"2018-07-13T15:31:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/paris-news\/?p=784"},"modified":"2021-04-30T13:22:40","modified_gmt":"2021-04-30T13:22:40","slug":"kent-ranked-among-top-50-in-europe-for-teaching","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/paris-news\/2018\/07\/13\/kent-ranked-among-top-50-in-europe-for-teaching\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent ranked among top 50 in Europe for teaching"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The pioneering ranking draws from data that includes <strong>teaching reputation, graduation rate and the development of students\u2019 skills<\/strong> for 242 institutions across the UK, Spain, Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Portugal and the Republic of Ireland.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Half of universities\u2019 overall scores are based on the results of the\u00a0<em>THE\u00a0<\/em>European Student Survey<\/strong> \u2013 a student engagement survey of more than <strong>30,000 university students<\/strong>, which includes questions on whether teaching supports <strong>critical thinking<\/strong>, whether classes <strong>challenge students<\/strong> and whether students have the opportunity to <strong>interact with staff<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The University\u2019s Vice-Chancellor and President, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/ovc\/people\/karen_cox.html\">Professor Karen Cox<\/a>, said: \u2018Our teaching is regularly acknowledged as being <strong>amongst the best in the UK<\/strong>, so I am delighted to see that Kent features so prominently in this new European table. I would like to thank all those who, through their <strong>hard work and dedication<\/strong>, contribute to not only our ongoing success and reputation but also to the <strong>teaching and learning experience enjoyed by so many students each year<\/strong>.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>In 2017, Kent was awarded a <strong>gold rating, the highest, in the UK Government\u2019s Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF)<\/strong>. The TEF Panel judged that Kent delivers\u00a0<strong>consistently outstanding\u00a0teaching, learning and outcomes for its students<\/strong>.
