{"id":76,"date":"2013-03-07T09:52:52","date_gmt":"2013-03-07T09:52:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/paris-news\/?p=76"},"modified":"2013-07-03T10:03:54","modified_gmt":"2013-07-03T10:03:54","slug":"expert-on-francis-bacon-leads-visit-to-pompidou-centre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/paris-news\/2013\/03\/07\/expert-on-francis-bacon-leads-visit-to-pompidou-centre\/","title":{"rendered":"Expert on Francis Bacon leads visit to Pompidou Centre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Professor Martin Hammer from the University\u2019s School of Arts, expert on 20<sup>th<\/sup> century artist Francis Bacon and member of the Tate Britain Council, visited the University of Kent at Paris today to work with our Masters students.<\/p>\n<p>Following a specialist lecture in which he described the influences and impact of Bacon\u2019s work, students got to see one of the subjects of the class first hand, the 1964 triptych \u2018three figures in a room\u2019 and one of the Pompidou Centre\u2019s prize exhibits.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI have learnt so much today! If Professor Hammer hadn\u2019t been here, I probably would have looked at this triptych for a few moments and then moved on. His insights have been fascinating and he\u2019s really made us think about the messages of the paintings.
