{"id":2999,"date":"2023-02-14T12:57:08","date_gmt":"2023-02-14T12:57:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/paris-news\/?p=2999"},"modified":"2023-02-14T13:04:58","modified_gmt":"2023-02-14T13:04:58","slug":"call-for-applicants-for-paris-writers-residency-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/paris-news\/2023\/02\/14\/call-for-applicants-for-paris-writers-residency-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for applicants for Paris Writer&#8217;s Residency 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From 1 February 2023, applications are invited for The Paris Writer&#8217;s Residency, sponsored jointly by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aup.edu\/\">The American University of Paris<\/a> (AUP), the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.centreculturelirlandais.com\/en\/\">Centre Culturel Irlandais<\/a> (Irish Arts Centre), and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/paris\">University of Kent Paris School of Arts and Culture<\/a> (PSAC). <strong>The Residency will take place from 1-31 October 2023.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The appointment is non-stipendiary but accommodation is provided at the Centre Culturel Irlandais in the heart of the Latin Quarter (5e arrondissement). In addition, there is an expenses allowance of 1,500\u20ac to cover travel and living costs.<\/p>\n<p>There are three main obligations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A day of interaction with undergraduate Creative Writing students at AUP;<\/li>\n<li>A reading and workshop with Master&#8217;s students at PSAC;<\/li>\n<li>A joint public event at the Centre Culturel Irlandais.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The writer appointed to this position may be a practitioner in poetry, prose or another genre. We are interested in someone who offers interdisciplinary possibilities and who would relish the opportunity to engage with students.<\/p>\n<p>Please submit your application via <a href=\"https:\/\/apply.interfolio.com\/120354\">Interfolio here<\/a>. Please note that you will be asked to create an account.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants are asked to submit:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a letter explaining in no more than 250 words why Paris is an appropriate location for their residency and how they would plan to work with the students.<\/li>\n<li>a CV<\/li>\n<li>a short sample of current work not exceeding 3,000 words<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Applications close on 15 March 2023 and the successful candidate will be notified in May 2023.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Paris Writer\u2019s Residency has previously been held by writer and translator Daniel Hahn (2018), poet and author Sampurna Chatterjee (2019), poet and novelist Sophie Mackintosh (2021) and poet and translator E.
