A unique way to experience their work first-hand is to visit their studios. There are a variety of ways you can do this thanks to open days (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">portes ouvertes<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">), artist association-run galleries, and events in artist squats. Discover some of the best opportunities below, including a few events in the coming weeks!<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2864\" style=\"width: 1930px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2864\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-2864 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/paris-news\/files\/2022\/10\/297821286_5619675384761319_3214570136939462203_n-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1281\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2864\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cit\u00e9 International des Arts \/ FB<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.citedesartsparis.net\/en\/events-programme\"><b>La Cit\u00e9 Internationale des Arts\u00a0<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This City of Paris foundation in the southern Marais welcomes 1,000 international artists-in-residence every year. On Wednesdays from 6pm to 9pm they host an \u201cartist trail\u201d through a selection of the centre\u2019s 325 studios. They also have an art gallery displaying their artists\u2019 work and host a range of other events, learn more <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.citedesartsparis.net\/en\/events-programme\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The foundation also manages another art studio centre on the northern edge of Montmartre. Opening in the early 1930s, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.citedesartsparis.net\/fr\/pratique\/plan-dacces#\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">La Cit\u00e9 Montmartre aux Artistes<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is comprised of 180 art studios. Some events are held throughout the year or you can also visit it on open days. Today 200 artists of varying genres contribute to the vibrant cultural ambiance of the venue. They have an active agenda of events from exhibitions to short film screenings. They are host an open house twice a year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/limpassebar.com\/\"><b>L&#8217;Impasse<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This hybrid creative space and bar in the 11th has monthly artist-in-residence. Called the \u201cAquarium&#8221;, the studio is found underneath the venue\u2019s impressive atrium (created by Gustave Eiffel!). Its local artist association is made up of 250 members. They display their art in individual and group shows at the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ateliers-artistes-belleville.fr\/en\"><b>AAB GALLERY<\/b><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(1 rue Francis Picabia, 75020 Paris), located near the Park de Belleville which is usually open from 2pm to 8pm, Thursday to Sunday. Or better yet, if you\u2019re here in <\/span><b>mid-May<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, attend their open days event, the largest in Paris. While you\u2019re in the area, take a meander around to discover the area\u2019s great street art scene!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ateliersdemenilmontant\"><b>Ateliers de Menilmontant<\/b><\/a><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This collective of over 200 artists of the bohemian district of the 20th arrondissement date back to 1991. They organise a number of events throughout the year at their gallery, <\/span><b>Galerie M\u00e9nil&#8217;8 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(8 rue Boyer 75020 Paris), as well as a larger open house in <\/span><b>late September.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2869\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2869\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2869\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/paris-news\/files\/2022\/10\/Ateliers-les-Frigos-630x405-C-OTCP-Amelie-Dupont-I-169-21.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"630\" height=\"405\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2869\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Les Frigos \/ <a href=\"https:\/\/en.parisinfo.com\/paris-museum-monument\/71360\/Ateliers-d-Artistes-Les-Frigos\">Paris Info<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.les-frigos.fr\/\"><b>Les Frigos<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Originally built in 1920, this former refrigerated storage depot in the 13th district was first squatted by artists in 1985. Now legalized, it houses over 80 artists, ranging from painters to jewelry designers. Although their studios are usually closed to the public, visits can be requested via their website. Nevertheless, you can also visit its art gallery, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aiguillage.paris\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Aiguillage<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, to see the work of the artists in residence or check out the venue\u2019s website for occasional workshops, other events and updates on their <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">portes ouvertes<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> which takes place in <\/span><b>mid May.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.apla.fr\/blog\/galerieouverte\"><b>La Galerie Ouverte de l\u2019Apla<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This association of artists in the vicinity of the world-famous cemetery aims to make art more accessible and interactive to local residents by organizing seasonal open air exhibits in the Place de la R\u00e9union. Meet the artists and get invited to come back to visit their studios on another day! The next event is <\/span><b>23 March 2024<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> then there will be other events in June, September and December. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2870\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/paris-news\/files\/2022\/10\/image_processing20221011-11630-1lljdye.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"750\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><b>Other <em>Portes Ouvertes<\/em> &#8211; Annual Studio Open Days<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Various neighborhoods around Paris have associations bringing together their local artists. These are usually once a year and offer an opportunity to visit 50-100 actual art studios. Here are some great options, organised starting at the beginning of the academic year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.anversauxabbesses.fr\/\"><b>Ateliers des Artistes d\u2019Anvers aux Abbesses<\/b><\/a><b>:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> around 80 artists sprinkled in the streets surrounding Montmartre. Held <\/span><b>mid November.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lesixaa.org\/index.html\"><b>Le 6\u00e8<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: a collective of the artists of the 6th arrondissement hosts its open house event <\/span><b>in mid May.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/beauxartsparis.fr\/fr\/venir-aux-beaux-arts\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Ecole des Beaux Art<\/strong>s<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: If you\u2019ve ever wondered what it was like inside the Paris Fine Arts Academy, you can take a meander through parts of it during its annual open days.
