They offer workshops which are designed to develop students’ creativity and confidence in physical performance, and give a new perspective on how theatre can be devised. Workshops usually consist of professional warm ups, devising games, ensemble development and physical training– inspired by the work of practitioners such as Michael Chekhov, Jerzy Grotowski and John Britton.

GOLKK workshops can be tailored to suit different age groups, with younger years (aged 12- 15) getting a taste of how play can be used as a theatrical tool, and older groups (GCSE+) having a deeper focus on physical techniques and their application to performance. Although GOLKK specialise in ensemble devising, their workshops can develop valuable skills for solo work (such as monologue assessments) and script work. Students from past workshops stated that GOLKK’s work made them feel ‘confident’, ‘creative’, ‘challenged’ and ‘excited’.

In school introductory workshops available on the following dates:
Monday 14th, Thursday 17th May
Monday 20th, Thursday 24th May
Monday 4th June, Thursday 7th June
Monday 11th June, Thursday 14th June

Followed by a campus visit and extended workshop on Friday 15th June 9.30-2.30.

Please contact Dr Alex Martin-Carey on A.E.Martin-Carey@kent.ac.uk to register or for more information.

The School of Arts at the University of Kent are offering partner schools the opportunity to participate in drama workshops run by graduate theatre company … Read more

[1
1120,1363,5082
