The masterclasses are designed to open young people\u2019s eyes to the excitement, beauty and value of mathematics through this year’s mathematics masterclasses. These will take place in-person at our Canterbury campus on the following dates:<\/p>\n The master classes are entirely free of charge; however pupils will have to be nominated by their teachers. To nominate a pupil or to learn more about these masterclasses, please email Rowena at mathsoutreach@kent.ac.uk<\/a><\/p>\n ___________________________________________________________________________<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition 2025<\/strong>\u00a0will run from 1-6 July 2025. This free <\/strong>event, suitable for all ages<\/strong>, showcases the latest research from across the UK, through interactive exhibits, hands-on activities and talks.<\/p>\n It takes place at The Royal Society, 6-9 Carlton House Terrace, London, SW1Y 5AG.<\/strong><\/p>\n This year, UK school and college groups can book to visit the Exhibition between 2 \u2013 4 July 2025, bringing a group of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) engaged students to meet the researchers. Students will get the opportunity to talk with the researchers at 13 flagship stands, finding out more about the innovative science, technology, engineering, and maths they are undertaking and their career pathways in scientific research. There will also be the opportunity to engage with a large range of publicly accessible interactive activities and attend talks (spaces permitting) from a large variety of scientists involved across the entire week. The content of the Exhibition is best suited to students at GCSE and A-level (or equivalent) who actively want to pursue a career in STEM once they leave school, although some activities are suitable for younger ages.<\/p>\n To support with planning, schools or colleges can book either a morning (10am – 12:30pm) or afternoon slot (12:30pm \u2013 3pm) on their day of choice, for a group of up to 30 students. Please note that all students, no matter their age, MUST be accompanied by school or college chaperones on-site for safeguarding reasons.<\/p>\n Tickets can be reserved through the Eventbrite page<\/a>.<\/p>\n ___________________________________________________________________________<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Wednesday 6th to Sunday 10th August<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Ever wanted to design, build and launch your own rocket? Then this event is for you!<\/p>\n Join us as we plan an exciting mission to Mars, taking you through a condensed mission life cycle. You will get to programme rovers to navigate an obstacle course, research and propose a cubesat mission, and more!<\/p>\n This event is completely free to attend, and lunch will be provided throughout the week. You will however have to make your own way to and from campus, though travel bursaries will be available to students who meet certain criteria.<\/p>\n This opportunity is available to students who are between 14 and 17 years old and live in Kent. Considering there are limited places available, applicants who meet the university\u2019s widening participation criteria will be prioritised.<\/p>\n The application deadline has been extended to midnight on Monday 30<\/span><\/span>th<\/span><\/span> of June.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0To apply, please click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n ___________________________________________________________________________<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Monday 4th to Friday 8th August<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n This week offers budding scientists the opportunity to experience what it is like to study bioscience at university. As part of this week, you will: carry out your own mini research project in our undergraduate teaching laboratories, compete in an agar art competition, listen in on research talks, and produce your own research poster.<\/p>\n This event is completely free to attend, and lunch will be provided throughout the week. You will however have to make your own way to and from campus, though travel bursaries will be available to students who meet certain criteria.<\/p>\n This opportunity is available to students who live in Kent and are studying biology at sixth form or college. Considering there are limited places available, applicants who meet the university\u2019s widening participation criteria will be prioritised.<\/p>\n The application deadline has been extended to midnight on Sunday the 1<\/span><\/span>st<\/span><\/span> of June. <\/span><\/span>To apply, please click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n ___________________________________________________________________________<\/p>\n <\/p>\n This event will take place at the University\u00a0of Kent’s Canterbury campus on Tuesday 24th\u00a0June<\/strong>.\u00a0 The conference\u00a0will feature talks and hands-on activities related to mathematical sciences (including data science and actuarial science), physics and engineering.<\/p>\n The conference is open to all Year 12 or L3 Year 1 pupils studying a relevant subject.
