Special Performance of Generation FOMO<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The University of Kent is hosting a special performance of the ground-breaking Verbatim production \u2018Generation FOMO<\/strong>\u2019 especially for school Headteachers, SLT, or delegated staff in the region, on the evening of Tuesday 8 July 2025.<\/p>\n

Generation FOMO<\/a>, devised by University of Kent Artists in Residence Portrait Theatre, has been touring schools in the county, co-funded by the University of Kent and KCC, and created from authentic interviews with young people aged 11-25 about their relationships to phones and social media.<\/p>\n

The play has been paired with \u2018The Social Experiment\u2019, a piece of ongoing research led by Dr Lindsay Cameron in our School of Psychology, designed as a springboard for conversations between young people and their parents\/carers and teachers about smartphone use. The Verbatim piece and corresponding research has been getting press attention too, including a Channel 4 News feature<\/a>.<\/p>\n

How can we as educators become more aware of the online world young people are navigating?\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

This will be followed by a panel\u00a0Q&A hosted by our Acting Vice Chancellor Georgina Randsley de Moura.<\/p>\n

T<\/strong>eachers CPD: Writing a useful UCAS reference and the application process<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In this session for teachers and advisers, we explore what is useful for universities in a UCAS reference, including extenuating circumstances, and how to best support your students with their personal statements. \u00a0We will provide an insight into what happens to applications when they reach a university, including Clearing. An exciting opportunity to turn your work into a Teaching & Learning MSc!<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Are you a practising QTS teacher and passionate about your professional practice? If so, there is a Master\u2019s Course which will enable you to make your work your study and make your study your work.<\/p>\n

The University\u2019s MSc in Professional Practice \u2013 Teaching & Learning<\/em> is a part-time, coursework assessed, Master\u2019s course which runs over three years and focuses on key aspects of teaching such as the role of schooling and barriers to learning. You take examples of projects and initiatives you are involved in and use them to explore teaching practice culminating in a piece of practice-based research.<\/p>\n
