What? The University of Kent is piloting an opportunity where students in Year 12 and 13 can shadow an undergraduate student for the day. Each student will be paired with an ambassador and accompany them to any lectures, seminars and tutorials they have timetabled, there will also be time to look around the campus and ask any questions regarding university life and study. In addition to spending time with their ambassador guide, the Partnership Development Office will be putting on talks about applying to university and the admissions process that students can attend as part of their day.
In order to facilitate students being able to spend as much time as possible on campus, we have booked rooms for an overnight stay on campus. All meals are provided including breakfast before departure and travel expenses can be paid to and from campus.
When? Friday 25 January – Saturday 26 January 2019. Please note the overnight stay is optional.
Where? The University of Kent, Canterbury campus
Who? This initial pilot is for students in Year 12 or 13 who live in a KaMCOP ward. We only have 8 places available and they will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
Why? This opportunity will be useful for students who are considering university but might want to see the reality of student life to help them decide or who are in Year 13 and have made a UCAS application but still don’t feel they have a full understanding of what university will look like.
How? We are asking school staff to nominate students they think this opportunity would benefit by giving them the link to apply. We will then contact the students directly regarding confirmation of their place.
