The Centre for Music Audio and Technology at the University of Kent are seeking Partner and KMPF schools to be involved in an exciting new research project.
The principal aim of the project is to explore historic soundscapes of the Chatham Historic Dockyard through restoring old archived sound material and recreating soundscapes of the past. The project will be delivered over two workshops (a maximum of 4 hours each). By the end of the project, participating students will have had the opportunity to:
- learn new ways to approach listening
- discover interesting and useful ways to collect/select sounds and how to work with them
- develop audio software skills
- engage with heritage contexts within a significant site of British history – the Chatham Historic Dockyard
- contribute their work to a public exhibition
Although the project is not planned to start until September 2019, the centre needs to obtain expressions of interest as soon as possible. If you would like to be involved or require additional information, please contact Jess Whitehead.
