Opening Doors Webinars for Foster Carers and Supporters is a programme of workshops that provides the tools needed to empower care-experienced young people to make the right choices for them on their educational journey.
Tuesday 8th September, 10-11.30am
This free session is designed for care-experienced young people who are planning to start university in autumn 2026, and their carers or supporters.
We will cover the need to knows, including what to take, making the most of your first few weeks, jobs and where to find support at university.
The aims of the session are:
- For students to feel more prepared to make the transition to university
- For carers to feel more prepared to support young people with their progression choices
- Understand opportunities and support networks available to care-experienced learners at University
We will hear from care-experienced students about their experiences of preparing for and starting Higher Education.
The session will be led by Outreach staff from University of Kent, Canterbury Christ Church University, and University for the Creative Arts, and supported by care experienced student ambassadors.
This session will be online on Microsoft Teams.
