This free event is for young people in care (aged 12-18) and their champions (social workers, foster family, school staff) to visit University of Kent and take part in fun and interactive sessions to see what it would be like to be a university student.
We’ll explore questions like:
- Is university just for rich people?
- What do university students do all day?
- Do people like me go to university?
- Why do people go to university?
We’ll get inspired by care leavers who have gone to university and have shared their experiences, hopes and dreams in an exhibition, This is Home. There will be opportunities to take part in a range of activities, including a photography workshop with a creative professional, hear from This is Home photographer Dannii Jones about her work, and to find out more about pathways to university.
The event is hosted by University of Kent and University of the Creative Arts. You will have the chance to visit a university campus, meet new people, and hear from care leavers studying at university now.
The event is free, with food and drinks, and all resources provided. Come to explore, try, be curious, and share your ideas.
