The School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science is delighted to be one of only five UK maths departments taking part in a new university access programme called Levelling Up: Maths for Black heritage students.
The programme – a collaboration between learned societies, educational charities and organisations across STEM and the Black community – aims to encourage pupils of Black heritage to consider studying Mathematics or other STEM subjects beyond A-level, to improve both their grades and their confidence to study at university. The first cohort of pupils will be taught and mentored by University of Kent students of Black heritage over the course of their studies in Years 12 and 13, with no charge to schools or participants. More details about the programme can be found here.
