Ambassador Opportunity: The Succeed Programme

Outreach and Widening Participation Department are now recruiting a team of ambassadors to work on the Succeed Programme 2022.

The University of Kent Succeed Programme is designed to help young people in Kent and Medway to think about what they might want to do when they finish your level 3 studies. It allows students in Year 12 or Year 1 of level 3 studies at college to explore higher education and their future by combining information, exploration and experience to give students a broad view of university and will encourage them to decide whether it is the right path for them.

This project is now in its fifth year and will resume in-person after taking place online last academic year due to the pandemic. Over it’s five year existence, the programme has grown significantly and has built a respected reputation across Kent and Medway. It is one of the most sustained projects offered by the university and therefore provides a unique experience for all those who are a part of the programme (including staff).

Working as part of the Succeed Programme ambassador team will provide you with an opportunity to work with the same, small group of students over a sustained period of time as well as working closely with outreach staff and other ambassadors.

As a Succeed Programme ambassador you would become an ambassador mentor to a small number of students and support them in a variety of activities, throughout the duration of the programme. This consists of three online workshops, four Saturdays and one three night residential on the University of Kent Canterbury campus. Given that the programme runs on set dates and is designed to offer sustained support to students, ambassadors are required to commit to the whole programme at the point of application.

We are looking for a maximum of 10 ambassadors to make up the team and invite all ambassadors interested in the programme to apply. All the programme dates, information on rates of pay and the person specification can be found in the attached job description. Please read this job description carefully before applying.

If you would like to apply for this fantastic opportunity and feel that you meet the person specification, please submit a 200-250 word statement explaining why you want to work on the Succeed Programme to outreach@kent.ac.uk. The deadline for applications is Monday 29th November, 9am.

If your application is successful, you will be invited to an online interview via Microsoft Teams, which will take place in the week commencing 6th December .

Please Note: We cannot guarantee any ambassador will be successful in receiving a place in the Succeed team, this includes ambassadors who have previously participated in the programme. All ambassadors must apply for the post to be considered. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

We are looking forward to reading your applications and hopefully meeting many of you at interview.
