In collaboration with the AHRC-funded creative multilingualism initiative, the University of Kent are pleased to offer one-day workshops for pupils in years 10-12 during February 2019.
During the workshops, the renowned German slam poet, Julia Engelmann, will guide students in writing and performing multilingual poetry. The aim of these workshops is to raise awareness for the students’ linguistic abilities, regardless whether those were acquired in formal educational settings or not. At the same time, there will be the opportunity to explore new languages in creative and fun ways. Finally, the workshops’ performative element will strengthen students’ self confidence in public speaking, both in their native as well as foreign languages.
There may be the option of a subsequent event at the University’s campus, in which participants will be invited to take part in a public multilingual poetry performance.
