Tuesday 24 April Year 9 Visit Day – Medway Campus This visit day is designed to introduce students to the academic side of university life. This visit assumes some prior knowledge (either through an introductory workshop or campus visit), and will build on that knowledge. Thursday 26 April Maths: What’s the Point? Give the popularity of previous events, the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science will be running another instance of our ‘Maths, What’s the Point’ day for local Year 9 students. During the event, students will take part in a number of hands-on, accessible maths sessions which have been designed to be fun, as well as educational, and to demonstrate that even simple maths can have cool applications in the real world. Tuesday 17 July to Thursday 19 July Year 12 Summer School The 2018 Year 12 Summer School is designed to help students consider the different options available to them when it comes to university choices. The Summer School is well suited to students who are interested in higher education, but feeling unsure about how to choose a course and university. The Summer School is free of charge and offers an exciting opportunity to spend three days at the University’s Canterbury campus, staying overnight in university accommodation. Tuesday 31 July to Friday 3 August Year 10 Summer School The Year 10 Summer School is a residential programme for students in Year 10 attending either a University Partner School or one which is a member of the Kent and Medway Progression Federation (KMPF).The Summer School is free of charge and offers an exciting opportunity for students to spend 4 days at the University’s Canterbury campus. During this time, students will be introduced to the range of different academic subjects available to study at university, will meet a wide range of people and experience the student lifestyle.If you would like to book a promotional talk, please contact your Outreach Activities Coordinator. Bespoke Explore the Philosophy of Science This workshop provides an Introduction to the philosophy of science. Students will be introduced to the key concepts which underpin the philosophy of sciences, encouraged to think philosophically about scientific problems, and to think about the role of science in the modern world.
