Wednesday 7 March Languages A La Carte Languages à la carte is an event for students in year 10 and above and gives participants the opportunity to try new languages and find out more about studying languages at University. Workshops on offer will include new languages such as Italian, Mandarin and Japanese, an introduction to linguistics and a chance to talk to student ambassadors about language study at University and spending a year abroad.

Tuesday 19 June World Languages Day Run on our Medway campus, this event, for year 8, is intended to encourage students to engage with language learning in fun ways. Participants take part in a number of interactive workshops during the day which reinforce the languages they are learning and introduce them to new languages and cultures Workshops will be offered in subjects such as Japanese, Latin, Mandarin, Russian Italian, French, German and Spanish and students will use their languages in practical workshops including science, dance, music, puppetry, art and storytelling.  Schools are invited to bring a group of up to 20 students.

Wednesday 20 June A Picture of Health This is an exciting new event offered at our Medway campus for Year 7 students who attend a partner or KMPF school. During the day, students will experience a range of hands-on workshops to demonstrate how cutting-edge science can help improve our understanding of the human body. The sessions will be led by world experts and will include topic such as athletic enhancement, placebos within medicine, and the use of data science within health studies. Schools are invited to bring up to 30 of their most enthusiastic students who have an interest in Sports or the Sciences.

Thursday 21 June An introduction to University This one-day event on the Canterbury campus will provide students in Year 12 with an opportunity to explore a University campus and learn more about the range of subjects available to study. Wednesday 27 June Text and Language Day Aimed at year 12 students studying English Language, Literature, or Modern Languages, this interactive day explores the relationship between language, text and research. The students will experience a variety of subject sessions led by University of Kent academics, and will have a chance to explore the university campus and to meet current students.

Monday 2 July Science Extravaganza This event provides a fascinating insight into the worlds of science and technology, with a chance to experience hands-on practical activities in university facilities. Students in Years 8 and 9 spend a day on our Canterbury campus and take part in activities including an opening interactive lecture by Dr John Dickinson from the School of Sport and Exercise Science, interactive classroom based sessions including cool physics, topology & play-doh, and monitoring athletic performance. At lunchtime students will have the opportunity to participate in a Science Fair which will include activities and competitions such as measuring reaction times, green screen technology, and Da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man.

Monday 9 July Year 7 Visit Day This event, held at our Canterbury campus will provide students with an opportunity to explore and familiarise themselves with a university environment. The visit will help students reflect on what a university feels like, with students participating in a campus hunt and a number of other interactive and engaging discussion based activities. Following the event on campus, we recommend schools book the ‘Build a Student’ in-school workshop which through group discussion and interactive activities, reinforces the idea that there is no such a thing as a “standard university student”, with university students coming from a wide range of different backgrounds and with a wide range of skills and qualities.

Tuesday 10 July Year 7 Visit Day This event, held at our Medway campus will provide students with an opportunity to explore and familiarise themselves with a university environment. The visit will help students reflect on what a university feels like, with students participating in a campus hunt and a number of other interactive and engaging discussion based activities. Wednesday 11 July Year 13 Transitions Day ​Based on the theme of ‘What I Wish I’d Known Before I Started’ students in Year 13 who have applied to study at university will have the opportunity to meet student ambassadors and discover some tips and pointers about starting university. Students will also have the chance to learn about university support services, the role of the student union and learning resources available at university. Students are welcome to attend this event independently.

Thursday 12 July Year 8 Visit Day This event, held at our Medway campus will provide students with an opportunity to explore and familiarise themselves with a university environment.
