Kent PhD ambassador wins national award

Iulia Motoc, a PhD Student and a postgraduate ambassador for the School of Engineering and Digital Arts at the University has been involved in the delivery of outreach activities to students attending the University’s Partner and KMPF schools for a number of years. During her time working in this capacity, Iulia has developed and delivered many exciting sessions such as programming a humanoid robot and building a robotic arm out of syringes and rubber bands.

Due to her dedication, positive feedback and engaging sessions, Iulia was nominated for one of the 2017 British Engineering Excellence Awards. From a shortlist of five candidates, including representatives from across industry, Iulia won the award for Engineering Ambassador of the Year.

The celebration event was hosted by the Honourable Artillery Company in London and was co-organised by Eureka! magazine, New Electronics and MA Business. The judges were very impressed by Iulia’s work and we are very proud that she is still able to represent the University of Kent with her inspiring workshops.
