{"id":1324,"date":"2020-05-14T15:15:50","date_gmt":"2020-05-14T14:15:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/osc\/?p=1324"},"modified":"2023-04-26T13:41:03","modified_gmt":"2023-04-26T12:41:03","slug":"think-kent-discovers-series","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/osc\/2020\/05\/14\/think-kent-discovers-series\/","title":{"rendered":"Think Kent Discovers series"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For a special guest blog post, Jess Messenger introduces a series of nine Research Services and KMTV\u00a0 commissioned research documentaries which will be screened under the banner \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/researchservices\/news\/think-kent-discovers-series\/\">Think Kent Discovers series<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Starting the week commencing 18 May,<\/strong> researchers and field experts will host interactive talks featuring topical discussions as the University launches the<strong> \u201cThink Kent Discovers series\u201d<\/strong>, a series of nine cutting edge research documentaries produced by the University of Kent in association with KMTV.<\/p>\n<p>Each event will start with the screening of a research documentary followed by a live panel discussion on the topic.<\/p>\n<p>All events are<strong>\u00a0FREE<\/strong> to watch, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.co.uk\/e\/think-kent-discovers-series-film-screening-and-panel-debate-tickets-104970286954\">please book your place.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Series schedule to include:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tuesday 19 May at 19.00: \u201cRestoring the Palace of Westminster\u201d<\/strong><br \/>\nDr Henrik Schoenefeldt from the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/architecture-planning\">Kent School of Architecture and Planning<\/a> analyses the Houses of Parliament\u2019s historic ventilation system and how it shaped the overall design of the building.<\/p>\n<p><em>Panel members:<\/em><br \/>\n\u2013 Dr Henrik Schoenefeldt, Senior Lecturer in Sustainable Architecture at the University of Kent<br \/>\n\u2013 Professor Dean Hawkes, Emeritus Professor of Architectural Design at the Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff University and an Emeritus Fellow of Darwin College, University of Cambridge<br \/>\n\u2013 Richard Ware, Former Director of the Palace of Westminster Restoration and Renewal Programme<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday 28 May at 19.00: \u201cMary Rose \u2013 A Chemical Conundrum\u201d<\/strong><br \/>\nThe documentary explores how a team from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/physical-sciences\">School of Physical Sciences<\/a>\u00a0helped to preserve, and put on display, the pride of the Tudor fleet.<\/p>\n<p><em>Panel members:<\/em><br \/>\n\u2013 Professor Alan Chadwick, Emeritus Professor of Physical Chemistry at the University of Kent<br \/>\n\u2013 Professor Eleanor Schofield, Head of Conservation &amp;
