If you’re involved in research, we are very pleased to invite you to the launch of the Office for Scholarly Communication (OSC) on Tuesday 12 September, Gulbenkian Cinema, starting at 15:30.
This is an opportunity to find out what we will be doing, to give (honest and plentiful) feedback on researcher support at Kent, and have a glass of wine on us! To make sure we have a glass for everyone, please let us know if you are attending here:

Programme
15:30 – So, what is the Office for Scholarly Communication? A brief introduction to the history, and what we will be doing.
16:00 – Wine (and nibbles) reception and feedback. A chance for you to highlight the strengths, challenges and opportunities of the current research support experience at Kent and to meet some of the members of professional services who are supporting researchers.
Interested? We hope so!
What is the OSC?
Briefly, the Office for Scholarly Communication showcases all the research support provided across Kent to deliver a researcher-focused service that offers support and advice across the research lifecycle.
Building on the existing expertise at Kent, the office provides support for researchers in maximising the dissemination, in the widest sense, of their work. Working with Research Services, Information Services, Kent Innovation & Enterprise, Corporate Communications, Partnerships & Development… the list goes on! The OSC also provides information, guidance and support for dissemination through academic and non-academic outlets, social media, alternative publishing platforms, specialist outputs and other related activities.
The OSC enables researchers to communicate their research to their desired audience in the most effective manner, including discovering new dissemination routes, embedding communication from research idea to publication and ensuring that all researchers are aware of, and supported in, the most appropriate routes for dissemination, for their individual requirements.
Connecting researchers with specialist, non-traditional outputs across traditional schools and faculty boundaries, the OSC supports innovative dissemination of research, identifies issues and finds solutions for more effective ways of sharing research outputs to both academic and non-academic audiences globally.
If you can’t attend but would like to learn more about the OSC, please do email Sarah Slowe, Head of Scholarly Communication: S.E.Slowe@kent.ac.uk
