{"id":9717,"date":"2019-11-11T12:06:46","date_gmt":"2019-11-11T12:06:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/?p=9717"},"modified":"2019-11-12T09:27:41","modified_gmt":"2019-11-12T09:27:41","slug":"serenade-across-the-sea-camerata-performs-in-the-city-of-calais","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/2019\/11\/11\/serenade-across-the-sea-camerata-performs-in-the-city-of-calais\/","title":{"rendered":"Serenade across the sea: Camerata performs in the city of Calais"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A standing ovation from over six hundred people greeted the end of yesterday&#8217;s concert by the University Camerata in L&#8217;Eglise de Notre Dame in the heart of the city of Calais.<\/p>\n<p>The Camerata is a real cross-section of the University community, comprising undergraduate and postgradudate students, staff and alumni, all coming together to represent the University in public concerts throughout the year. It&#8217;s a testament to the nature of extra-curricular music-making at Kent that it transcends boundaries &#8211; geographical, hierarchical, institutional &#8211; as it creates communities working together in rehearsal and performance.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-9721\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2019\/11\/20191110_145423-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"474\" height=\"267\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2019\/11\/20191110_145423-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2019\/11\/20191110_145423-150x84.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2019\/11\/20191110_145423-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/>The concert, part of the city&#8217;s current festival, drew over six hundred people to witness the power of collaborative creativity which lies at the heart of the University&#8217;s vision.
