{"id":944,"date":"2010-05-03T16:07:56","date_gmt":"2010-05-03T15:07:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/?p=944"},"modified":"2010-05-04T10:01:37","modified_gmt":"2010-05-04T09:01:37","slug":"bursting-the-balloon-led-zeppelin-to-tour-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/2010\/05\/03\/bursting-the-balloon-led-zeppelin-to-tour-again\/","title":{"rendered":"Bursting the balloon: Led Zeppelin to tour again?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jason Bonham is keen for a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ledzeppelin.com\/\">Led Zeppelin<\/a> tour, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/music\/2010\/may\/03\/led-zeppelin-tour\">papers reveal today<\/a>, of potentially thirty dates.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, such a tour (about which rumours have abounded since the band\u2019s break-up in 1980) would have to overcome a couple of obstacles. \u00a0For starters, the death of drummer John Bonham in 1980 from Hendrix\u2019s trademark death of choking on his own vomit. \u00a0Robert Plant has always <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/music\/2008\/sep\/29\/robert.plant.rejects.reunion.rumours\">expressed his lack of interest<\/a> in re-forming the band, and even Jimmy Page\u2019s manager has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/music\/2009\/jan\/09\/led-zeppelin-will-never-reunite\">previously announced<\/a> the band would never re-unite.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_946\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-946\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2010\/05\/Housescover.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-946 \" style=\"margin-left: 5px;margin-right: 5px;border: white 5px solid\" title=\"Housescover\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2010\/05\/Housescover-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Houses of the Holy: album cover\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2010\/05\/Housescover-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2010\/05\/Housescover-50x50.jpg 50w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-946\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">House of the Holy (1973)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In 2007, the surviving band members re-united for a one-off\u00a0performance in London\u2019s O2 Arena with Jason Bonham taking over from his father on drums.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There is still a lot of work to do on this project and I want to make sure it&#8217;s done tastefully,&#8221; Bonham said.<\/p>\n<p>Led Zeppelin were \u2018Best Live Band\u2019 in the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2008_MOJO_Awards\">2008 Mojo awards<\/a>, some twenty-eight years after the band\u2019s demise.
