{"id":9013,"date":"2018-10-08T15:50:19","date_gmt":"2018-10-08T14:50:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/?p=9013"},"modified":"2018-10-09T09:39:21","modified_gmt":"2018-10-09T08:39:21","slug":"unique-exhibition-opens-a-window-into-hansel-and-gretel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/2018\/10\/08\/unique-exhibition-opens-a-window-into-hansel-and-gretel\/","title":{"rendered":"Unique exhibition opens a window into Hansel and Gretel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The walls of the Colyer-Fergusson Gallery are currently inviting visitors into a world of darkness, as the space presents for the first time some of the designs and the artwork leading into (and forming part of) a reimagining of the tale of <strong><em>Hansel and Gretel<\/em>,<\/strong> which <a href=\"http:\/\/kateromano.co.uk\/portfolio\/hansel-gretel-goldfield-productions\/\">Goldfield Productions<\/a> brings to Colyer-Fergusson in a few weeks\u2019 time. A unique combination of live music, puppetry, projection and shadow-play, the performance brings to life a new take on the classic Brothers Grimm tale by the poet Simon Armitage, with a score by composer Matthew Kaner; the exhibition offers an evocative glimpse into the visual world in which the production takes place.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-9023\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2018\/10\/20181008_093504-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"474\" height=\"267\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2018\/10\/20181008_093504-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2018\/10\/20181008_093504-150x84.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2018\/10\/20181008_093504-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-9028\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2018\/10\/20181008_093515-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2018\/10\/20181008_093515-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2018\/10\/20181008_093515-150x84.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2018\/10\/20181008_093515-1024x576.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>The display presents the work of artists\u00a0<strong>Clive Hicks-Jenkins,<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Phil Cooper <\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Peter Lloyd<\/strong>,\u00a0which charts the development of the design of the stage presentation, and includes some of the original drawings for a picture-book commissioned from Hicks-Jenkins by Random Spectacular, which turned out to be the starting-point for the whole project.
