{"id":8067,"date":"2017-02-13T11:53:08","date_gmt":"2017-02-13T11:53:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/?p=8067"},"modified":"2017-02-15T10:01:15","modified_gmt":"2017-02-15T10:01:15","slug":"earbox-series-brings-chamber-choir-to-studio-3-gallery-fri-24-feb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/2017\/02\/13\/earbox-series-brings-chamber-choir-to-studio-3-gallery-fri-24-feb\/","title":{"rendered":"#EarBox series brings Chamber Choir to Studio 3 Gallery Fri 24 Feb"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The #EarBox concert series bringing music and visual art together continues with a visit to Studio 3 Gallery from the <strong>University Chamber Choir<\/strong> on <strong>Friday 24 February at 1.10pm<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-8068\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2017\/02\/IMG_0928-225x300.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"267\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2017\/02\/IMG_0928-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2017\/02\/IMG_0928-113x150.jpg 113w, https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2017\/02\/IMG_0928-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2017\/02\/IMG_0928.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>Set against the backdrop of\u00a0<em>Soft Formalities<\/em>, the gallery&#8217;s new exhibition, the Chamber Choir will unveil a choral programme in the venue&#8217;s sonorous acoustic, ranging from Purcell to Alec Roth, taking in madrigals by Hassler and Lassus, and works by Tavener, Peter Warlock and Alexander Campkin.<\/p>\n<p>The new exhibition explores layered complexity in a series of paintings, drawings, sculptures and ceramics, and the music provides a similar, sonic exploration in line and\u00a0colour, from the drama of Purcell to the ravishing hues of\u00a0Alexander Campkin, including the dramatic\u00a0simplicity of Tavener&#8217;s\u00a0<em>The Lamb <\/em>and\u00a0a\u00a0veritable textural<em>\u00a0tour de force <\/em>for double choir in Lithuanian.
