{"id":4606,"date":"2012-11-28T10:39:37","date_gmt":"2012-11-28T09:39:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/?p=4606"},"modified":"2012-11-28T11:05:34","modified_gmt":"2012-11-28T10:05:34","slug":"new-building-comes-alive-with-music-for-open-view","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/2012\/11\/28\/new-building-comes-alive-with-music-for-open-view\/","title":{"rendered":"New building comes alive with music for Open View"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday&#8217;s Open View event, hosted by architects Tim Ronalds, saw the new Colyer-Fergusson Building come alive with music, visitors and guests, as musicians performed in all the available spaces throughout the building.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4610\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4610\" style=\"width: 269px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-4610 \" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2012\/11\/Foyer.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"269\" height=\"358\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4610\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Guests in the new foyer<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Between 3-8pm, the entire place was abuzz with jazz, choral music, solo percussion and piano, acoustic guitar and string quartet music, an aural backdrop as invited guests toured the new facilities, and saw (and heard!) it in action. It was also the first opportunity to test-drive the new performance stage in the foyer, which proved to be a fantastic space with terrific acoustics, ranging from the delicate close-harmony singing of vocal trio &#8216;The Canterberries&#8217; to the liquid soprano-sax improvisations from sax teacher, Peter Cook.
