{"id":4371,"date":"2012-10-01T12:49:42","date_gmt":"2012-10-01T11:49:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/?p=4371"},"modified":"2012-10-01T15:30:37","modified_gmt":"2012-10-01T14:30:37","slug":"its-all-kicking-orff-tonight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/2012\/10\/01\/its-all-kicking-orff-tonight\/","title":{"rendered":"It&#8217;s all kicking Orff tonight&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With rehearsals for the University Concert Band and Big Band having begun last Wednesday, and those for the Symphony Orchestra last Thursday, it&#8217;s all choral this week &#8211; the University Chorus starts rehearsing this evening, and the Chamber Choir tomorrow night, whilst Sing! starts rehearsing this Thursday.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/en\/2\/20\/Fortuna_Wheel.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"151\" height=\"193\" \/>Tonight, we&#8217;ll be getting to grips with Handel&#8217;s Coronation Anthem <em>The King Shall Rejoice<\/em> and Orff&#8217;s riotous <em>Carmina Burana<\/em> with the Chorus &#8211; both pieces will feature in the Grand Gala concert which will officially launch the new music building at the inaugural concert in December (details online <a title=\"View event details\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/music\/whatson.html?tab=december\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>7.30pm this evening, Grimond Lecture Theatre II; open to staff and students of the University without audition, and auditioned external members as usual &#8211; see you then!<\/p>\n<p>And to whet your appetites, here&#8217;s Seiji Ozawa and the Berlin Philharmonic in a performance from 1989&#8230;<\/p>\n<div class=\"kent-video-wrapper\"><span class='embed-youtube' style='text-align:center; display: block;'><iframe class='youtube-player' type='text\/html' width='474' height='297' src='https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/WROTlZ2yJsU?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;fs=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;start=86&#038;wmode=transparent' frameborder='0' allowfullscreen='true'><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<p>N.B.
