{"id":3820,"date":"2012-03-22T11:24:01","date_gmt":"2012-03-22T10:24:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/?p=3820"},"modified":"2012-03-22T11:24:01","modified_gmt":"2012-03-22T10:24:01","slug":"greeting-the-first-day-of-spring-with-jazz-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/2012\/03\/22\/greeting-the-first-day-of-spring-with-jazz-5\/","title":{"rendered":"Greeting the first day of spring with Jazz @ 5"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday was apparently the first day of spring, and what better way to herald the change into the new season with the first Jazz @ 5 on the Gulbenkian Theatre&#8217;s foyer stage.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3821\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3821\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2012\/03\/SP_A0999.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3821\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2012\/03\/SP_A0999-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2012\/03\/SP_A0999-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2012\/03\/SP_A0999.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3821\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Andrew Kitchin<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Featuring the robust pianistic skills of second-year Economic student, Niji Adeleye, and saxophonist with the Concert and Big Bands, Tim Pickering, both of whom were making their debut, and Jazz @ 5 stalwart Andrew Kitchin on guitar, the programme kicked off with a lively blues.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3822\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3822\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3822\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2012\/03\/SP_A1003-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2012\/03\/SP_A1003-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2012\/03\/SP_A1003.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3822\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Steph Richardson, Niji Adeleye<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Over the course of set the stage was graced with songstresses Steph Richardson (who, when not singing jazz or studying Drama, can also be found performing and conducting with the Chamber Choir), Ruby Mutlow (familiar as singer with the Big Band), and Jo Gray.
