{"id":3340,"date":"2011-11-17T17:01:55","date_gmt":"2011-11-17T16:01:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/?p=3340"},"modified":"2011-11-17T17:01:55","modified_gmt":"2011-11-17T16:01:55","slug":"bear-faced-cheek-singing-for-children-in-need","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/2011\/11\/17\/bear-faced-cheek-singing-for-children-in-need\/","title":{"rendered":"Bear-faced cheek: singing for Children in Need"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Many thanks to everyone who came along to the Gulbenkian Theatre at lunchtime, and joined in to sing Handel and raise money for this year&#8217;s<strong> Children in Need<\/strong> appeal.<\/p>\n<p>The Yellow Bear turned up and conducted the massed ranks of visitors and musicians in a rousing rendition of the &#8216;Hallelujah Chorus,&#8217; whilst members of the Music Society charged around with buckets and balloons to take the collection.<\/p>\n<p>After some lively warm-ups and a run-through of key moments in the piece, the performance was delivered with gusto and vibrant enthusiasm.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3345\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3345\" style=\"width: 190px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2011\/11\/pudsey_web.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3345 \" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2011\/11\/pudsey_web.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"190\" height=\"358\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2011\/11\/pudsey_web.jpg 238w, https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2011\/11\/pudsey_web-159x300.jpg 159w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 190px) 100vw, 190px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3345\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pudsey with violinist Jo Pearsall<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Afterwards, Pudsey was almost swamped by a crowd of eager&#8230;err&#8230; grown-ups all clamouring for a picture with the Great Bear: and not a child in sight!<\/p>\n<p>Our thanks to Pudsey for coming along, to the Gulbenkian for throwing its theatre doors open to the massed and eager rabble, to the ever-enthusiastic Music Committee for being on hand to help (and rattle collection-buckets), and to everyone who turned up, made a donation, and took part.
