This week, <strong>Dominic del Nevo.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p><strong>When were you at Kent ?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2002\/2003 &#8211; 2004\/2005<\/p>\n<p><strong>What subject did you study ?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Politics &amp; International Relations<\/p>\n<p><strong>What occupation are you now engaged in ?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pensions Administration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If music is not your profession, do you participate in any musical experiences now ?<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_363\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-363\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-363 \" style=\"border: 5px solid white;margin-left: 5px;margin-right: 5px\" title=\"Dom del Nevo\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2010\/03\/del-Nevo-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Dominic del Nevo\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2010\/03\/del-Nevo-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2010\/03\/del-Nevo-50x50.jpg 50w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-363\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Married to the job: Dom del Nevo.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Yes &#8211; I have recently taken on the position of choir director at St Paul&#8217;s Church in Canterbury.\u00a0 I also sing with a couple of Canterbury-based chamber choirs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How were you involved in music whilst at Kent ?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I sang with the Chamber Choir for\u00a0two years and conducted it in my final year.\u00a0 I was the Secretary of the Music Society in my secnd year.\u00a0 I also sang with the University Chorus, and did the occasional stint of barbershop singing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What did you gain from your University music experience, and has this helped you in any way since leaving Kent ?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It was certainly a lot of fun, and I gained some great friends (and a fianc\u00e9e, now wife!) in the process.\u00a0 I was able to take advantage of some brilliant opportunities &#8211; singing and conducting in the Crypt of the Cathedral, and solo singing in the Cathedral and elsewhere.\u00a0 The experience of conducting the Chamber Choir is one of the reasons why I&#8217;m now conducting a church choir every week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What was your most memorable musical experience at Kent ?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Being involved in the first ArtsFest &#8211; it was so different from &#8216;just&#8217; the Prom concerts of previous years, and a really exciting and unpredictable event&#8230;plus the weather was perfect!<\/p>\n<p><strong>What would you say to current musical students at the University ?
