{"id":11091,"date":"2022-09-20T11:08:34","date_gmt":"2022-09-20T10:08:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/?p=11091"},"modified":"2022-09-20T11:08:48","modified_gmt":"2022-09-20T10:08:48","slug":"a-musical-tribute-to-the-late-queen-elizabeth-ii-farewell-to-stromness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/2022\/09\/20\/a-musical-tribute-to-the-late-queen-elizabeth-ii-farewell-to-stromness\/","title":{"rendered":"A musical tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II: Farewell to Stromness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As a reflective tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II, Head of Music Performance, Dan Harding, plays the gently meditative\u00a0<em>Farewell to Stromness<\/em>, written by a former Master of the Queen&#8217;s Music, Sir Peter Maxwell Davies.<\/p>\n<p>The piece was written by Sir Peter Maxwell Davies CH CBE (1934 \u2013 2016), who from 2004 to 2014 was Master of the Queen&#8217;s Music, a position previously held by composers including Sir Edward Elgar and Arnold Bax, and most recently by Dame Judith Weir.
