{"id":10946,"date":"2022-04-04T10:36:35","date_gmt":"2022-04-04T09:36:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/?p=10946"},"modified":"2022-04-08T09:13:33","modified_gmt":"2022-04-08T08:13:33","slug":"image-gallery-composer-in-focus-john-woolrich","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/2022\/04\/04\/image-gallery-composer-in-focus-john-woolrich\/","title":{"rendered":"Image Gallery: Composer in Focus: John Woolrich"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Many thanks to everyone involved in Saturday&#8217;s <strong><em>Composer in Focus<\/em> <\/strong>event; a great opportunity to hear from <strong>John Woolrich<\/strong>, a major figure on the British compositional landscape, about his approach to composition, relationship to music from the past, and ideas behind the pieces performed by the University Symphony Orchestra, String Sinfonia and Music Scholar pianists.<\/p>\n<div class=\"kent-video-wrapper\"><span class='embed-youtube' style='text-align:center; display: block;'><iframe class='youtube-player' type='text\/html' width='474' height='297' src='https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/o_lTSOekku4?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;fs=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;wmode=transparent' frameborder='0' allowfullscreen='true'><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<p>John is currently Associate Artist, and has been in attendance at rehearsals and a recent performance by the String Sinfonia in Folkestone as we prepared for Saturday.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-10947\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2022\/04\/NEB_7525.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"470\" height=\"313\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The event was an opportunity to bring University musicians and John together to explore two of his works;\u00a0<em>Ulysses Awakes<\/em> and <em>Ges\u00e4nge der Fr\u00fche<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">,<\/span> <\/em>pieces with two distinct relationships to music of the past.
