Lunchtime Recital"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The first two events in this year&#8217;s Summer Music Week have got the series off to a flying start; at the weekend, the <strong><em>Sunday Swing<\/em><\/strong> with the <strong>University Big Band<\/strong>, conducted by Ian Swatman, and vocalist third-year Elle Soo, went down a storm!<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-10645\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2021\/06\/IMG_20210606_143350.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"3264\" height=\"2448\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The event was also the inaugural livestream direct from Colyer-Fergusson and had a lively online audience watching at the time &#8211; Recitals<\/strong> (the second takes place on Friday in Canterbury Cathedral); a selection of this year&#8217;s Music Performance Scholars presented a programme including a classic number made famous by Etta James, some sparkling French flute repertoire, and closed with a vivacious duet for two violas by Telemann.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10642\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10642\" style=\"width: 3264px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10642\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2021\/06\/IMG_20210608_105616.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"3264\" height=\"2448\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-10642\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">l-r: Weiqi (Arthur) Zhang;
