{"id":10624,"date":"2021-06-01T10:56:49","date_gmt":"2021-06-01T09:56:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/?p=10624"},"modified":"2021-06-01T12:36:36","modified_gmt":"2021-06-01T11:36:36","slug":"big-band-livestream-test-a-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/2021\/06\/01\/big-band-livestream-test-a-success\/","title":{"rendered":"Big Band livestream test a success"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Big Band was rehearsing on Sunday ahead of its event on Sunday 6th June, <strong><em>Sunday Swing<\/em><\/strong>, which will launch this year&#8217;s <strong>Summer Music Week<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-10627\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2021\/06\/IMG_20210530_105739.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"3264\" height=\"2448\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Willing victims as always, the players, conductor <strong>Ian Swatman, <\/strong>together with third-year Social Anthropology student and singer, <strong>Elle Soo,<\/strong> \u00a0gamely agreed to allow us to use the opportunity to test the livestreaming facility, in order to share the concert online (a limited audience capacity means we aren&#8217;t able to accommodate the usual Full House that greets the Big Band events).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-10634\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2021\/06\/IMG_20210530_102524.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"3264\" height=\"2448\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-10633\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2021\/06\/IMG_20210530_102353.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" \/>Whilst the ensemble was working, the technical crew was working tirelessly behind the scenes to set up and test the cameras, microphones, lighting and streaming platform around the musicians; and I&#8217;m pleased to say that it worked. There were some spine-tingling moments as live music lifted into the concert-hall once more after so many months without it, and it was lovely to see the audience-seating back out in the hall, something we&#8217;ve not seen since March 2020!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-10630\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/music-matters\/files\/2021\/06\/IMG_20210530_123615.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"3264\" height=\"2448\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Thanks to Thomas, George and Joe, we&#8217;re delighted to say that, for those who can&#8217;t join us in person at 2.30pm this Sunday, we will be able to share the event live online.
