This will enable us to travel between the two universities to perform experiments and work on joint grant applications for the next two years.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed area of work focuses on the intersection of our respective research interests and expertise:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.msp.ac.uk\/about\/staff\/biological\/koutsikou_stella.html\">Dr. Stella Koutsikou<\/a>: <em>Midbrain control of homeostatic regulations, ensuring animal survival both in health and disease.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vetmed.ufl.edu\/about-the-college\/faculty-directory\/jasenka-zubcevic\/\">Dr. Jasenka Zubcevic<\/a>:\u00a0<em>Role of the immune system in the development of hypertension. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vetmed.ufl.edu\/about-the-college\/faculty-directory\/linda-hayward\/\">Dr. Linda Hayward<\/a>: <em>Autonomic nervous system and cardiovascular regulation during stress.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>We will be investigating the interplay between the immune system and key brain areas in the control of the cardiovascular system, both in health and disease.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My collaborators from University of Florida and I are delighted to have been awarded the University of Kent DVC&#8217;s Partnership Fund.
