My collaborators from University of Florida and I are delighted to have been awarded the University of Kent DVC’s Partnership Fund. This will enable us to travel between the two universities to perform experiments and work on joint grant applications for the next two years.
The proposed area of work focuses on the intersection of our respective research interests and expertise:
Dr. Stella Koutsikou: Midbrain control of homeostatic regulations, ensuring animal survival both in health and disease.
Dr. Jasenka Zubcevic: Role of the immune system in the development of hypertension.
Dr. Linda Hayward: Autonomic nervous system and cardiovascular regulation during stress.
We will be investigating the interplay between the immune system and key brain areas in the control of the cardiovascular system, both in health and disease.
