{"id":1491,"date":"2025-09-27T21:00:45","date_gmt":"2025-09-27T21:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/memsnews\/?p=1491"},"modified":"2025-10-06T21:06:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-06T21:06:12","slug":"bibliographical-society-announces-2025-gold-medallist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/memsnews\/2025\/09\/27\/bibliographical-society-announces-2025-gold-medallist\/","title":{"rendered":"Bibliographical Society Announces 2025 Gold Medallist"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/bibsoc.org.uk\/about\/\">Bibliographical Society<\/a>, founded in 1892, is the senior learned society dealing with the study of the book and its history.<\/p>\n<p>The 2025 Gold Medal will be awarded this year to <strong>Dr David Shaw<\/strong>, a MEMS Research Fellow,\u00a0in recognition of his distinguished services to bibliography, including in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bibsoc.org.uk\/cathedral-libraries-catalogue\/\">Cathedral Libraries Catalogue<\/a>\u00a0and his many publications on French and English printing. Nicolas Bell, Society President, will have the honour of presenting the medal to Dr Shaw at the first lecture meeting of the new academic year, on 18 November, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Shaw\u2019s most recent presentation to the Society was the Graham Pollard Memorial Lecture for 2025 on The Settlement Act of 1697, entitled \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Pnd0WRQgKqo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Stationers and the Poor Law<\/a>\u201c.
