In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.historictownstrust.uk\/post\/student-s-union-how-university-students-are-shaping-our-maps\">recent blog post for the Trust<\/a>, Luke spoke about his experience working for the Trust.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p id=\"viewer-byevg2868\" class=\"M2g-j naMKD Aw9ca MtnLO\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"iBZzo\">&#8220;I\u2019m working on the <em>Canterbury Atlas<\/em>\u00a0project. It combines historical, architectural, and archaeological research to provide a deeper understanding of the city\u2019s unique topography and rich history. The opportunity to work alongside passionate historians and specialists has not only been fun but has also greatly enhanced my research skills and academic development.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-hook=\"rcv-block32\"><\/div>\n<div data-breakout=\"normal\">\n<div id=\"viewer-lfpke2690\" class=\"M2g-j naMKD Aw9ca MtnLO\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"iBZzo\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div data-hook=\"rcv-block33\"><\/div>\n<div data-breakout=\"normal\">\n<p id=\"viewer-q78iy2658\" class=\"M2g-j naMKD Aw9ca MtnLO\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"iBZzo\">I\u2019ve been researching the fascinating layers of Canterbury\u2019s history, architecture, and archaeology, and transforming this research into engaging, informative entries for the Atlas. It\u2019s been incredibly rewarding to contribute to such a detailed and meaningful resource.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-hook=\"rcv-block34\"><\/div>\n<div data-breakout=\"normal\">\n<div id=\"viewer-gxt1a2660\" class=\"M2g-j naMKD Aw9ca MtnLO\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"iBZzo\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div data-hook=\"rcv-block35\"><\/div>\n<div data-breakout=\"normal\">\n<p id=\"viewer-aunqw2750\" class=\"M2g-j naMKD Aw9ca MtnLO\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"iBZzo\">One of my favourite discoveries I found through my research is the story behind Christ Church Gate, the primary entrance to Canterbury Cathedral. Part of the gate was demolished simply because Alderman James Simmons wanted an unobstructed view of the Cathedral clock from his office\u2014a quirky detail that highlights the personalities and decisions that have shaped Canterbury\u2019s past!&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">Well done, Luke!
