Each year, at graduation time, we celebrate what members of our community have achieved. In addition, we award prizes to those on our MA who have gained the highest marks. This year we are pleased to announce that our MA prize winner is Emily Allison.
The MEMS Dissertation Prize is named after Dr Jayne Wackett, a member of our community who died too young. It goes to Emily for her work on a broadside ballad which was recently donated to Special Collections at the University of Kent.
Emily commented:
Receiving this prize from the School of Humanities has been the cherry on top of an incredibly rewarding and moreish MA experience with MEMS. It is particularly special to have won the dissertation prize named for the late MEMS alumna Jayne Wackett, whose doctoral thesis on Westminster Abbey’s Litlyngton Missal will be essential reading as I embark upon my own doctoral work at the Abbey. I cannot thank the MEMS community enough for their warmth, encouragement, and guidance throughout the two years of my MA and I am thrilled to keep working with them as my postgraduate research continues.
As Emily alludes, she has now begun a doctorate in MEMS, a collaborative doctoral award funding by CHASE, and seeing her work on manuscript fragments which survive in Westminster Abbey. More adventures for her in our community!
