The new Leverhulme Doctoral Scholarships Programme, Knowledge Orders before Modernity, is now open for applications. As its website explains, Knowledge Orders (or KOM for short) is an innovative partnership between King’s College London and MEMS, funded by the Leverhulme Trust, which will provide over the coming years £2m+ funding for doctoral and master’s plus doctoral awards to study cultures of the handwritten.
This year, five doctoral scholarships and one master’s plus doctoral scholarship are on offer. For the doctoral scholarships, candidates can apply either for one of the advertised projects, each designed by a supervisory team combining expertise from MEMS and King’s, or via the open call, where the candidate proposes their own project.
The master’s plus scholarship is designed by the Leverhulme Trust to increase inclusion and so there are criteria to encourage applications from diverse backgrounds.
The deadline for applications for the doctoral scholarships is noon on 8th May 2024. There is a step-by-step guide to how to apply on the site: candidates should apply to the relevant partner university and then submit an expression of interest to the programme via the website. If you want to know more, do visit the programme’s new website, and follow KOM on social media (Bluesky and X-Twitter). If you have any further queries, contact David Rundle, the Kent Director of the programme.
