The symposium investigated soundscapes as complex sounding systems that change in space and time, and shape our understanding of the surrounding world. The MAAST concerts featured new compositions including the new multichannel work Earth and Steel by Prof. Barry Truax. Keynote speakers included Prof. Barry Truax, Dr Katharine Norman and Head of Sound and Vision at the British Library, Richard Ranft. The symposium received 130 submissions from 18 countries in total.
