The Freshfields Stephen Lawrence Scholarship Scheme is designed to address the disproportionate under-representation in large commercial law firms and other City institutions of black men from less socially mobile backgrounds. The scheme is aimed at eligible first year law students at participating universities nationwide, and some other students at a small group of those universities.<\/p>\n<p><b>Benefits<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Scholars will receive the following support:<\/p>\n<p>\u2013A 15-month development programme including skills workshops, interview coaching, support with job applications and careers advice;<\/p>\n<p>\u2013commercial familiarisation during university holidays through work experience;<\/p>\n<p>\u2013an alternative route to interview for a training contract at the firm;<\/p>\n<p>\u2013a \u00a33,500 contribution towards course and associated study-related costs; and<\/p>\n<p>\u2013mentoring.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The timing of this support is explained to everyone who is selected for a scholarship.
