{"id":3044,"date":"2019-01-29T09:00:20","date_gmt":"2019-01-29T09:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/lgbtstaff\/?p=3044"},"modified":"2020-01-30T20:28:15","modified_gmt":"2020-01-30T20:28:15","slug":"gay-as-in-happy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/lgbtstaff\/2019\/01\/29\/gay-as-in-happy\/","title":{"rendered":"Gay as in Happy"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>We\u2019re here, we\u2019re queer, and we want to hear your stories!<\/h3>\n<p>The University of Kent\u2019s LGBT+ Staff Network is looking to publish <em>Gay as in Happy<\/em>, a collection of interviews and personal stories that focus on LGBTQ+ members of staff, students, and the wider community.\u00a0 <em>Gay as in Happ<\/em>y will be published as a book and excerpts will be featured on social media platforms.<\/p>\n<p>We want to provide a positive outlook on coming out and on being queer in a predominantly straight world.\u00a0 Why? \u00a0Because it is crucial to live in hope and to know that a fulfilled life as a queer person is possible (and, dare we say it, desirable).\u00a0 Sharing positive stories gives us hope and allows us to imagine happy endings for ourselves and for our loved ones.\u00a0 Thus, hope becomes a radical act.\u00a0 Because to imagine a better life is an important step towards creating a better life.<\/p>\n<p>In order to make this happen, come and speak to us!\u00a0 We are looking for contributors who want to share their positive experiences about coming out and being out.\u00a0 If you would like to get involved, or to simply find out more, please email\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:lgbtqbook@kent.ac.uk\">lgbtqbook@kent.ac.uk<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We\u2019re here, we\u2019re queer, and we want to hear your stories!
