All events are free and open to all Kent staff and students.<\/p>\n<p>Want to host an event\/activity? <a href=\"mailto:lgbtstaffnetwork@kent.ac.uk\">Let us know<\/a> so we can help you promote it!<\/p>\n<h2><b><strong><span style=\"color: #000080\">Monday 15 May<\/span><br \/>\nAn Introduction to Trans Awareness<\/strong><\/b><\/h2>\n<p><strong>12.30 &#8211; 2pm, Grimond Lecture Theatre 3<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A 90-minute session to set the wider context for trans* identities &#8211; how sex, gender and sexual orientation interact. The workshop will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Explore key terms and uses of language<\/li>\n<li>Offer basic grounding in the legislation around the rights and responsibilities around trans identities; the Equalities Act 2010, Gender Recognition Act 2004<\/li>\n<li>Begin to explore how an organisation can ensure it is being trans-inclusive<\/li>\n<li>Provide links to a wide range of resources<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Hosted by Lee Gale from <a href=\"http:\/\/genderedintelligence.co.uk\/\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc\">Gendered Intelligence<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong><span style=\"color: #000080\">Wednesday\u00a017 May<\/span> <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Pronoun Challenge<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The LGBT+ Staff Network challenges you to use non-gendered pronouns for the day! Help us raise awareness of the Trans* community by using non-gendered pronouns with colleagues for the day \u2013 if you slip up it\u2019s 10p in the \u2018swear jar\u2019 \u2013 proceeds will go to Trans* youth support charity, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mermaidsuk.org.uk\/\">Mermaids UK<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>LGBT+ on the plaza\u2026<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>12-2pm, Jarman Plaza<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The LGBT+ Staff Network and Student Society (Kent Union) will also be hosting a stall on Jarman Plaza 12-2pm to promote LGBT\/straight alliance and to give information and advice about sources of support and upcoming activities. Come along and see us!<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Wear the Rainbow!<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Student Services at Medway invite Staff and Students to join us in celebrating IDAHOT by wearing colourful clothing for the day and donating to support <a href=\"https:\/\/www.metrocentreonline.org\/\">METRO Charity <\/a>\u2013 a local charity supporting LGBTQ+ young people in Medway, and across London and Kent.<\/p>\n<p>Donation boxes will be at the Gillingham Building and Medway Building reception desks and room G0-05, and also at The Deep End Front Social Space in the Student Hub where, <strong>from 10am-2pm there will also be a stall with information and goodies!<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>LGBT+ Staff Network social<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>5.15pm, Gulbenkian Caf\u00e9 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Join colleagues for an informal drink after work from 5.15pm in the Gulbenkian.
