Kent and Greenwich Students Prepare for Fully Funded Study Tour in China

This June, an exciting international opportunity is taking shape for students from the University of Kent and the University of Greenwich. A total of 75 students have been selected to take part in the fully funded UK China Youth Mobility: 2-Week Study Tour in China, a unique chance to explore, study, and experience life in one of the world’s most dynamic countries.

A Tale of Two Cities: Shanghai and Zhuhai

During the programme, students will visit and study at two prestigious institutions:

  • East China University of Political Science and Law (Shanghai)
  • Beijing Institute of Technology, Zhuhai

From the global metropolis of Shanghai to the innovation-driven Greater Bay Area, participants will gain first-hand insight into Chinese society, education, and culture. The programme combines academic engagement with cultural immersion, offering students a rare opportunity to broaden their global perspectives.

Preparing for the Journey: Chinese Summer Express

To help students make the most of their experience, the Mandarin team at the Kent Language Centre has been running a specially designed 7-week online preparatory course, Travelling in China, delivered by Zhenzhen Zhu.

The course has been extremely well attended and warmly received, equipping students with:

  • Essential Mandarin language skills
  • Practical communication for everyday situations
  • Cultural knowledge to navigate life in China with confidence

Students have been actively engaging with real-life scenarios, from ordering food to navigating transport, ensuring they arrive ready to connect and participate fully.

Looking Ahead

This programme highlights the growing opportunities available for students interested in international study and cultural exchange. The Language Centre remains committed to supporting students in developing global skills, whether through language learning, short-term programmes, or immersive experiences abroad.

We look forward to sharing updates from the students during their time in China – watch this space!
