Word of the Year! – BBC News Interview with Dr Laura Bailey

Person with red hair and black hat holding a dictionary

Our Language Centre Senior Lecturer in English Language and Linguistics, Dr Laura Bailey, was recently on the BBC News talking about this year’s Word of the Year ‘Rage Bait’, which has recently been unveiled by the Oxford Dictionary.

The word of the year is not just a new or frequently used word selected by the Oxford Dictionary but is voted on by the public.  Laura touches upon the evolution of language and the creativity and development of new words and their meanings.
